Work has begun building a new multi-million-pound David Lloyd leisure centre in Yeovil. The development on the Bunford Business Park off Lysander Road is due to open in the late-summer of next year, creating around 100 new jobs. The centre will consist of a sports hall with indoor courts, an indoor swimming pool, spa, changing rooms, children's soft play area, and lounge and business hub. An additional outdoor pool will be provided, together with six outdoor padel courts.
NHS Somerset says a new system to handle emergency stroke care will lead to "better outcomes" for patients. People who suffer a stroke will no longer be taken to Yeovil Hospital for their initial treatment as the hospital's Hyper Acute Stroke Unit closed this week. Instead, patients will be taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton or Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester. Patient groups say they're worried it could cost lives.
A Somerset woman who was forced to pay £75,000 to her abusive ex-husband in a divorce settlement says the current laws around separation are "grossly unfair" and need to change. Tickets for next year’s Glastonbury Festival will go on sale in October. It'll cost 408 pounds for a weekend ticket - including a £5 booking fee - an increase of £29.50 from 2025. Headliners for next year’s festival, which takes place from the 23rd to the 27th of June, have yet to be announced, but rumours are already swirling, with everyone from Harry Styles to Taylor Swift and Stevie Wonder said to be in the mix.
