Film and TV crews have given Somerset's economy a £4 million boost in the last 12 months. Somerset Council says the UK film and TV industry has contributed to the local economy through catering, accommodation and tourism, while making the most of Somerset’s varied landscape to make films.

Around 100 people have objected to plans to build 325 new homes in Crewkerne. They claim it will add to traffic congestion and erode the town's 'distinctive character'. Place Land Ltd submitted the plans for the development in September to Somerset Council, including providing extra parking spaces at Crewkerne railway station.

Somerset Council has issued advice on flying flags in public places, stating that they should be used to foster a sense of belonging, not division. Flags have continued to be painted on roundabouts, road signs and lampposts across Somerset, with MPs and local politicians claiming they spread fear, violence, and division.

A Scout group in South Somerset is seeking volunteers to help run its 10-to 14-year-old section. Ilminster Scout Group is seeking additional adult helpers in various roles, including working with children, leading outdoor activities, and providing behind-the-scenes support such as planning and administration. Ilminster Scouts say without additional support, the 10-14 age section may have to close.

Somerset Council is asking the public to report anyone they see sleeping rough. Rough sleeping refers to sleeping outdoors or in unsuitable places, such as empty buildings or vehicles. The council advises that if you suspect someone is sleeping rough, please alert StreetLink on 0300 500 0914.
