Somerset Council has set up a task force to help identify land for a permanent traveller’s site in the county. It follows numerous incidents in which public open spaces have been occupied illegally by travellers. Landowners and communities are being asked to come forward with possible locations. Somerset Council hasn’t said when it will provide the new permanent traveller’s site.

Police are appealing for information after burglars targeted a charity shop. The incident occurred at Martock Charity Shop, in North Street, in the early hours of Tuesday, October 28th. If you can assist the police with their inquiries, please call the non-emergency number 101.

Repairs are being carried out at Wells bus station all this week. Somerset Council says there’ll be some disruption for passengers but that buses will run at their regular times.

Police are investigating the theft of two motorbikes, valued at £20,000, from a house in Evercreech. The raid happened two weeks ago but details have only just been made public. Police are seeking help in identifying three men caught on CCTV breaking into the property.

A Somerset woman is seeking individuals with a connection to the armed forces to establish a new amateur rowing club. Sandra Murison plans to use the Bristol Channel for rowing club activities and is inviting service people, veterans, and their families to join as members.

A Chard woman has been recognised for her campaigning work. Annie Tombs, who led a campaign for better maternity services at Yeovil Hospital, has been named a finalist in the Muma Nurture New Face of 2025 awards.
