The Care Quality Commission has given two Yeovil GP practices a 'good' overall rating. The CQC inspected Hendford Lodge Medical Centre and Abbey Manor Medical Practice in February. Both practices were rated as ‘requiring improvement’ at an early inspection.

There has been a rise in reports of thefts at commercial premises in Somerset over the last three months. According to insurers AXA, claims for losses sustained through break-ins at garages and commercial premises in the County have increased substantially since the start of the year.

Martock is to host its first-ever Pride event. Organised by Martock Pride, it is due to take place at Martock Recreation Ground on Saturday, June 21st, with an evening event featuring LGBTQ+ musicians held in Martock Parish Hall.

Bus users in Somerset could see changes to the frequency of services when the new West of England mayor takes office. Almost all the candidates standing in the West of England mayoral election say they want to transform public transport by introducing bus franchising. This would mean operators making decisions about timetabling, fares, and routes.

Plans to build 175 new homes at Woolavington, near Bridgwater, have been scrapped due to the developer running out of time to start work on the site. Had it gone ahead, the estate would have been located at Woolavington Hill, close to the new electric vehicle battery-making factory off junction 24 of the M5.
