The RSPCA are appealing for help after an elderly neglected dog was found with missing fur and sore skin in Yeovil. The female German Shepherd named Lola was helped by a member of the public before being rescued by the council’s dog warden, taken to a vet and then passed to the RSPCA. Anyone with information about the animal’s owners can contact the charity on 0300 123 8018.

The impact of flooding in Chard is being addressed by the Town Council. They say they are putting in measures to reinstate ditches which have been filled in, and are also looking to install new storm water culverts in areas where this isn’t practical. A number of residents are welcoming the move after flash flooding affected several areas of the town in May.

Stoke-sub-Hamdon’s new skate park is on its way to becoming a reality, after work began to replace the old facility, fenced off for “health and safety” reasons. The construction, opposite the Hamdon Medical centre, is expected to take 8 weeks.

Yeovil Town have announced a new signing to the team. Matt Gould joins the Glovers on a two year deal, having previously played in the New Zealand football championship, the EFL League Two for Cheltenham Town and reached the third round of the FA Cup with Stourbridge.

And a vacancy has opened at Ilminster Town Council for a new Town Clerk. The winning applicant will advise the Council on its work, ensuring decisions and procedures are lawful and then look after the implementation of those decisions.
