Vicar to play his favourite Christmas Carols.

The Rector of St John’s Church in Yeovil, the Reverend James Dudley-Smith, plays a selection of his favourite Christmas carols.

In his one-hour-long special on Christmas Day, James features performances by the Choir of Kings College Cambridge, Nat King Cole and, surprisingly perhaps, a Christmas song by the great Bob Dylan.

James said, “I wanted the programme to be a mix of contemporary and traditional carols and couldn’t leave out Dylan. I’ve been a lifelong fan and only recently discovered he recorded an album of Christmas music in 2009. He was 67 at the time, and although his voice is not quite the same, there is still something magical about his singing.”

Station Manager, Steve Haigh said, “Christmas is the busiest time of the year in the Church, and we are grateful to James for finding the time to record this one-hour special of carols for the enjoyment of our listeners.”

‘My Favourite Christmas Carols’ with the Reverend James Dudley-Smith can be heard on Radio Ninesprings on Christmas Day between 8 and 9 am and then again between 7 and 8 pm on Christmas Day.
