    Yeovil Hospital has introduced a new system for handling patients at its A&E department aimed at cutting waiting times. It’s claimed that an Iron Age settlement preserved under Somerset's wetlands for 2,000 years is facing erosion due to climate change. Montacute Road in Tintinhull will be closed for five days next week for repairs to a gas main.

    Yeovil Hospital has introduced a new system for handling patients at its A&E department. Patients are now seen at the door by a nurse before being taken to the Emergency Department or Urgent Treatment Centre. Yeovil Hospital states that the system is designed to reduce waiting times for patients attending the A&E department.

    Antibiotic-resistant infections are on the rise in the South West. According to the UK Health Security Agency, infections in our region were 9% higher in 2024 compared to 2023. The increase in infection rates in the South West was, however, lower than in all other areas of the UK.

    A road near Yeovil will be shut for five days next week. Montacute Road in Tintinhull will be closed from its junction with Head Street to the Southcombe Way from Monday to Friday for repairs to a gas main. Contractors, Wales and West Utilities, say an alternative route will be signposted and that pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.

    Avon and Somerset’s Police and Crime Commissioner has been commenting on the decision to abolish the role of PCC. Clare Moody says her current programme of work will continue unchanged, and that ending the PCC role will "not be a rushed process".

    A choir based in Chard is seeking new members. Voices Through the Ages describes itself as a social space where people can meet new friends and enjoy singing together. The choir is open to everyone, and sessions are held in the main hall at Holyrood Academy every Monday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
