Police are appealing for witnesses to a three-vehicle crash in Sherborne in which two people were seriously injured. It happened when two cars and a van collided outside the petrol station on the A30 between Sheeplands Lane and Horsecastle Lane at 3 pm on Wednesday.. If you saw what happened or have dashcam footage you’re asked to please call the non-emergency number 101.

The jobs of housing maintenance staff at Somerset Council could be outsourced to a private contractor. Workers claim it would result in a worse service for tenants and poorer employment conditions. It follow a decision by Somerset Council to merge 6000 properties in the Taunton area with a management company that looks after 4000 homes in Sedgemoor.

It's been revealed that Somerset Council has spent more than £40 million employing agency staff since it was created in April 2023. It follows hundreds of staff redundancies at the Lib Dem run authority as part of a drive to improve efficiency and change the way services are delivered. Opposition Conservative Leader on Somerset Council, Councillor Diogo Rodrigues, has criticised the increasing reliance on agency spending, blaming it for council tax bills going up.

Glastonbury's Formula One driver, Lando Norris, has been honoured with his own waxwork at Madame Tussauds. Lando who won the F1 driver's championship with McLaren last season has been attending Madame Tussards for an artist to capture his likeness.

A fund-raising pie throwing event is taking place in Chard today for Red Nose Day. Organised by local businesses and the Town Council it starts at 3 pm and goes on to 7 pm outside the Guildhall.
