Police have arrested a man in Yeovil on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs. He was stopped by police while driving in Yeovil town centre and following a search, quantities of class-B drugs were found in his vehicle.
Work’s started on up-grading Fore Street in Chard town centre. The improvements, which include widening the footpath and laying new paving slabs, are aimed at making the street more accessible and safer for pedestrians.

A boy in Chard has made it to the regional finals of a stamp design competition. Organised by Royal Mail, the competition is being held to find a stamp design to honour key workers from the Covid pandemic. 9-year old Louis Sullivan’s entry is of a postman wearing a facemask and delivering the mail in Chard.
Yeovil’s Christmas lights are being switched on tonight. The Mayor, Evie Potts-Jones will press the button at 6 pm as part of the event with live music on the green outside St John’s Church starting at 5 pm. It’s also a switch-on night for the Christmas lights in Crewkerne and Ilminster. In Crewkerne, the lights will be switched on in Market Place at 7 pm. In Ilminster, they will be switched on from outside the Market House at 7 pm.
