    Police investigating an armed robbery at a shop in Yeovil at the weekend are searching for two men. They were seen running away from the shop on Wessex Road at around 7.45 on Saturday morning after threatening staff and taking cash. Police are asking for motorists with dashcam footage of Wessex Road from around 7.45 am on Saturday to come forward.

    The Leader of Somerset County Council, David Fothergill, has again appealed for adult social care to be better funded. From April next year, an extra £5.4 billion will be given to the sector however, David Fothergill says for adult social care to become sustainable, the government will need to give more.

    Health teams will start visiting schools in Somerset from today to get more pupils aged twelve to fifteen vaccinated against Covid. Professor Adam Finn, a government adviser on the Covid vaccination programme, says having more school-aged children vaccinated will benefit everyone.

    A local man has been found guilty by magistrates in Yeovil of possessing a knife without good reason. Oliver Flint of Limington Road in Ilchester was made the subject of a community order and told to pay court costs of £620.

    A Chard motorist has been fined £309 and given six penalty points for speeding. Brian Simons of Boden Street was caught breaking the speed limit while driving in Exeter and was appearing before magistrates in Bodmin.

    Somerset is one of the latest areas to receive government funding as part of a new pilot scheme aimed at providing homes and businesses with faster broadband speeds. 

    A man who burgled a house in Sherborne Road in Yeovil in July this year has been jailed for two-and-a-half years. Jamie Coles of no fixed address who was appearing at Taunton Crown Court also asked for four thefts from motor vehicles to be taken into consideration.

    A man from Yeovil is walking 30 miles, and picking up litter on his way. Kevin Doherty will be walking along the A37 dressed as Bananaman, to raise money for Children's Hospice South West. Kevin has done similar walks before, picking up litter between Yeovil and Dorchester.
