People are being asked not to throw used vapes into bins after a recycling lorry nearly caught fire in Somerset. It happened when a discarded vape in a bin liner on a refuse lorry started to burn. Luckily, the fire was spotted before it spread. Somerset Council says people should dispose of vapes in recycling boxes or take them to a recycling centre.
The charity Dogs Friends, which re-homes dogs in Somerset, says it's seeing high numbers of people wanting to give up their dogs. It claims owners have resorted to asking for their pets to be put down if they can't be re-homed.
New data from NHS Somerset shows the number of people going into hospital with alcohol-related problems is above the national average. Somerset NHS Foundation Trust has launched an alcohol care team to support individuals who keep returning to hospital.
