    A three-day strike by bin collectors in Somerset that was meant to start today and last for a month has been suspended for two weeks. Members of the Unite union will now be balloted on an improved pay offer from the waste contractor, Suez UK. The decision to suspend the strike action follows talks held yesterday with the Unite union and the conciliation service ACAS.

    Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following a serious crash in Yeovil. A man in his thirties was left with potentially life-changing injuries after his motorbike collided with a Volkswagen Polo at the junction with Preston and Westfield Road at around 9.50 pm last Wednesday.

    More than half of the food businesses checked by Trading Standards in the South West have been found in breach of new government rules regarding food labelling. The regulations require full ingredient and allergen labelling on all food made on the premises and pre-packed for direct sale.

    An animal rescue centre near Shepton Mallet is trying to raise forty thousand pounds to help feed and look after its animals. ‘Happy Landings’ says it gets dozens of enquiries every month from people who can't afford to feed their pets. 

    Ilminster Town FC is looking to recruit a new Manager to run its Youth Team. The side currently plays in Division Two of the Perry Street Leagues. The Club says it's looking for someone with a solid understanding of the local football scene.
