A not-for-profit social enterprise in South Petherton is offering free or low-cost places at its holiday club to help families struggling with the cost of living. RAMA Life has been given a £2,500 grant by Western Power Distribution to fund the places, which include a meal and healthy snacks for children.

People in Crewkerne are being asked to comment on plans to build 300 new homes close to the town’s railway station. Developers, Place Land LLP, have earmarked land to build on opposite the station entrance, with connections to other nearby housing developments. Locals have until September 23rd to put their views across, with a formal planning application expected to be submitted to South Somerset District Council before Christmas.

Chard has been chosen as one of the areas for a project to tackle food inequality. The Good Grub Club provides families with free meals and involves families in cooking more healthy food.

Former Yeovil-based Test Pilot and astronaut Tim Peake has been speaking about the latest space mission to the Moon. The un-crewed test flight named Artemis 1 is due to launch later this week and could lead to the first woman setting foot on the Lunar surface. Tim Peake, who worked as a Test Pilot at Leonardo in Yeovil, says Artemis 1 could be a stepping stone to one day reaching Mars.

Young people in Chard have put on a display of their skateboarding skills to raise money to repair the town’s skate park. Money from the event will be spent on filling-in cracks and making safe the skating ramps at Henson Park in Chard.
