Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh is fighting to be re-selected as the Conservative candidate for the Yeovil constituency at the next general election. Senior Conservatives in Yeovil voted in favour of him standing again earlier in the year but due to boundary changes in the Yeovil constituency, their decision has been ruled as invalid. Now, Mr Fysh has been forced to ask all party members living within the new constituency boundary to vote on his future.

A Yeovil taxi operator is questioning the decision to close three roads in Yeovil town centre until the end of the year. The High Street, Hendford and the Borough will be closed to vehicles for eight months from April 18th for work to lay new pavements slabs as part of the Yeovil Refresh project. Justine Rossiter from Yeovil Radio Cabs wonders why the town is so often subjected to multiple road closures.

Work to refurbish Ilminster’s public tennis courts is due to start early next month. The Lawn Tennis Association has given the Town Council a grant to carry out the refresh that is due to be completed by mid-June.

Two roads in Chard will be closed to traffic for work on a sewer system later this month. Glynswood and Furnham Road will be shut for three weeks from Monday, April 17th, with diversions operating along Crimchard, Helliers Road, and Fore Street.
