Five men have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with a man from Yeovil, who remains missing. Concerns were raised with the Police over resident, Michael Wheeler’s welfare last Monday. There has been a public appeal for any sightings of Mr Wheeler since August 24th. His disappearance is now being treated as a murder enquiry.
The purchase of Glover’s Walk in Yeovil has been successfully completed by Somerset Council. Buying the site marks the start of the final phase of the town’s Yeovil Refresh project. The premises will now be demolished and redeveloped and subject to public consultation, turned into a combination of new flats and commercial space.
A new ‘silent book club’ is coming to Chard next month. The Chard Community Hub is bringing the new venture to the Boden Centre in the town, telling us that there is no assigned reading, that all reading levels are welcome and that the regular meets are held in a warm space, free of charge.
A special school in Yeovil is celebrating 20 years of being rated as outstanding by Ofsted. Fiveways School held a special in-house celebration yesterday, recognising the efforts of staff and pupils over the years. Headteacher Swavek NowakIewicz says that the connection between staff and pupils and the dedication of the teachers over the years has been recognised.
