NHS Somerset is urging people to get the latest COVID booster jab. They say one hundred thousand people in the County have yet to have the jab, which is available at no charge through GP surgeries and pharmacies to people aged 65 and over, those living and working in care homes, or those clinically at risk. You can book the jab online, on the NHS app, or by calling 119.

The road between Merriot and Lopen, near the turn-off to Hinton St George at Eggwood Hill, remains closed following a landslip. Diversions are in operation.

Somerset Council's phone and online payment system for paying rent, council tax, and parking fines will be out of action for the next seven days. This will allow the system to be upgraded so that payments can be made anytime without queuing.

Holyrood Academy in Chard has been given £650 to spend on new library books. Seventy books have been bought with money granted by the Siobhan Dowd Trust; a charity that promotes a love of reading to students in secondary schools across the UK.

Two brothers from Pitney near Somerton have completed two epic challenges, raising money for charity. Freddie Storey ran 300 miles of the Cornish coast path and followed it by climbing Mount Toubkal in North Africa, with his brother, Max.

Guests at a B&B in Cornwall can now book an overnight stay in a Lynx helicopter. The decommissioned aircraft, originally based at RNAS Yeovilton, has been fitted with curtains, a toilet and a double bed.
