The Government has announced it ls going to end the controversial practice of badger culling as a way of getting rid of Bovine TB.

Since being trialled in Somerset nearly ten years ago it's divided the farming community and Labour says data on the prevalence of the disease in wildlife is still largely unknown. Instead, they will start vaccinating badgers with a separate jab for cattle plus introduce a national wildlife surveillance programme.

Yeovil Town fans are celebrating after the team beat Boston away by three goals to one. Brett McGavin got the first two for the Glovers whilst Jordan Young got the third. Ahead of the match, the team’s newest signing Josh Sims said he was optimistic.

Buses of Somerset has confirmed the number 54 trial route to Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum will now continue running until January. This comes alongside other changes this month where the 25 service will have its connection to Milverton reinstated and the number 7 from Taunton to Galmington will also stop at Taunton station.

The South Petherton Carnival is scheduled for its return in a couple of weekends. The event on Saturday, September 14th is promised to be a vibrant celebration, with an array of carnival carts, majorettes, walking masqueraders and bands taking to the streets. It’s always the first Carnival in the calendar each year, and 2023 saw a record number of entries.
