Bus services around the Yeovil area look set to be disrupted later this month when members of the RMT union at First Bus take strike action in their long dispute over pay. The stoppage is due to take place over two days beginning Tuesday, July 23rd. RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch has called on First Bus to return to the negotiating table with a meaningful offer that reflects the dedication and hard work of his members.

Members of Somerset’s ethnic minority communities will be celebrating their cultural histories at an event in Yeovil this weekend.’Yeovil Together’ is a free-to-enter event being held at the Westland Entertainment venue on Sunday, starting at midday. Organisers say the event will have something of interest for all the family.

Local charities have benefited from the generosity of the Inner Wheel Club of Chard. Money raised by holding a raffle, bingo night, cake sale, and second-hand book sale was divided equally and presented to Chard First Responders, Chard Area Youth Committee, Chard Guides and Chard Ladies Rugby at the Inner Wheel Club’s annual meeting.

The Somerset branch of the CAMRA has revived its Pub Trail. After a five-year break, the Campaign For Real Ale lists 50 local pubs to visit on its pub trail, each selling a minimum of two real ales. The trail runs from July 20th to September 14th. CAMRA say the trail is a chance for the public to show its support for the real ale sector.
