Reckleford in Yeovil is to partially close for further two weeks next month. One lane of the A30 outside Yeovil Hospital is currently shut for a new bus stop to be built. Now, Somerset County Council has confirmed the road will shut again, this time for 14 days for overnight works, after the current closure ends on April 17th. The Council says it’s to bring power into Yeovil Hospital for the newly built breast cancer clinic.
Three of our local railway stations are to be equipped with defibrillators. South West Railways is to install the equipment at Crewkerne, Yeovil Junction, and Templecombe stations. The defibrillators will be placed as close as possible to the front entrance of the stations for use 24/7.
A new 30 miles-per-hour speed limit has been introduced at Kingstone near Ilminster. The lower limit applies to the main road through Kingstone and the surrounding areas of Moolham Lane and Mill Lane.
A Long Load man has appeared in court charged with assault. George Owens of Martock Road was accused of punching a youth in Langport Recreation Ground. Owens pleaded guilty to the charge, was given a twelve-month community order, and told to pay £250 in compensation.
