    Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh has added his support to the government’s handling of the crisis in Ukraine. Somerset’s Director of Public Health is asking for people to protect others now that all Covid restrictions in England have been lifted. Recycling collections, suspended last week due to the bad storms, have resumed across Somerset.     Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh has added his support to the government’s handling of the crisis in Ukraine. He says even though Ukraine is not a member of NATO it is right for the West to defend the country. Mr. Fysh says he wants the British government to take a firm military response against Russia.

    Somerset’s Director of Public Health is asking for people to protect others now that all Covid restrictions in England have been lifted. Trudi Grant says even without a legal requirement to isolate after testing positive with Covid, people should still act with caution.

    Recycling collections, suspended last week due to the bad storms, have resumed across Somerset. Somerset Waste Partnership is asking households to limit the amount of waste they put out for collection and instead to take their waste to a recycling centre.

    Four years after being on the brink of bankruptcy, Somerset County Council claims its new budget is one of the most sustainable of any authority in the country. The budget will see council tax bills rise by three percent from April and comes ahead of elections in May to elect the members to run the new Somerset unitary council that will take on responsibility for delivering all council services in Somerset in 2023. 

    A date has been fixed to hold this year’s Yeovil half marathon. The 13.1-mile event, cancelled for the past two years due to Covid, is being held on Sunday, 27th March. Up to 2,000 runners are expected to take part.
