    A Somerset woman whose husband saved her life using CPR is encouraging others to learn the skill. Ruth and her husband Simon were out walking 18-months ago when she suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed. Simon says knowing how to apply CPR saved his wife’s life.

    Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident on the A358 at Ashill. It happened at around 4.15 pm yesterday (Tuesday 1st February) and involved a car and a lorry. The lorry had the name Sparks Transport written on the side. If you witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage, you’re asked to call the police non-emergency number 101.

    A Somerton woman has appeared in court charged with assaulting a police officer. Magistrates in Yeovil were told that Danielle Green of Russet Road in Somerton kneed the male PC in the groin while being arrested. Green pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined £50 and told to pay the offficer compensation of £200.

    Cafes and venues in Somerset are signing up to a new scheme to promote breastfeeding in public places. Launched by the National Childbirth Trust it aims to make mothers feel more at ease when breastfeeding outside the home.

    Tintinhull Primary School is one of the ‘greenest’ schools in the UK, according to The Royal Horticultural Society. The RHS has awarded the 86-pupil school ‘Growing Champion’ status for its extensive gardening activities and Forest School.

    A Somerset woman is trying to raise three and a half thousand pounds to take part in the World Transplant Games in Australia. Keeleigh John was given a new liver and kidney ten years ago and, if successful with her fund raising, will compete for Team GB at the World Transplant Games in Melbourne in April.
