People in Somerset who are yet to receive their £150 council tax rebate are being urged to apply for it. The money is being given to eligible households to help towards paying energy bills. Customers who pay by direct debit should have received the £150 but those who don’t pay by direct debit might not have been paid and need to make a claim.

The survey is open to all ages but young people aged between 12 and 25, in particular, are being encouraged to take part. The results will be used for a report on new ways to tackle knife crime. The survey is available online for 12 weeks on the Avon and Somerset crime commissioners' website.

The look of Chard town centre is set to change in the coming months with a contractor appointed to undertake public realm improvement works. Alun Griffiths Ltd has been appointed as the contractor to deliver the improvements in Fore Street, Holyrood Street, Boden Street and the Eastern Gateway. The work forms part of the High Street Heritage Action Zone programme in Chard that will see more than £2 million invested in the town centre.
