Maiden Beech Academy in Crewkerne has retained its 'good' Ofsted rating. The school that caters to children aged 9 -13 was rated good in all areas following an inspection in February. The report said the school, which has 383 children, had a 'harmonious' atmosphere. It said that leaders had devised a broad curriculum that benefited from the strong subject knowledge of the staff. Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities thrived at the school. Across the curriculum, lessons enriched pupils’ understanding of the world around them.

The Town Council’s looking for a team of volunteers in Station Road and Ditton Street where last year’s floods were at their worst.
