Bus campaigners, who staged a protest against service cuts in Yeovil at the weekend, are calling for a re-think of plans to scrap the number 54-bus route that runs between Yeovil and Wincanton. First Bus says to keep the 54 running, and three other ‘at risk’ services across Somerset, they need more subsidies and are in talks about this with Somerset Council.
A group of ex-offenders have been taking part in an equine therapy programme in Somerset. The crime prevention charity Key4Life has been working with men who are now out of prison, and claims the therapy sessions have cut re-offending.
A road in Chard will partially shut to traffic later this week. East Street, on the side of the road leading out of the town, will close on Wednesday to fix an electricity supply fault. During the two-day closure, traffic lights will be in operation with motorists diverted onto the Crowshute Link.
