Yeovil’s Dunelm store has been seriously damaged by a large fire that broke out on Sunday evening. Firefighters were called to the scene at the Quedam Shopping Centre shortly after 5 pm and said that the store was well alight. We’re told that the store will be closed until further notice.

Yeovil-based engineering company, Leonardo, is helping schools in Ukraine after it teamed up with the local ‘School In A Bag’ charity. The manufacturer donated smart screens, whiteboards and speakers that were no longer needed for business use that can be used for education in the country.

The RSPCA says it receives two reports of dog cruelty every day - with the county witnessing an increase. The charity's data suggests it had 831 reports last year - up thirty on the year before.

Author Ian Rankin and Countdown’s Susie Dent are just two names set to appear at this year’s Yeovil Literary Festival. The first set of events have been announced and Rankin will be appearing at St John the Baptist Church on 10th October whilst Dent will appear at the Westlands ballroom on the 26th. In addition, Paul Sinha from TV show, The Chase and presenter Kate Humble will be attending the festival on Friday 25th.

The return of the event will see authors, experts, celebrities and speakers leading talks and discussions across the town.
