A car has twice been set on fire in a fortnight in Martock, according to police. The latest incident happened in the early hours of last Friday, April 1st. Police say the car was parked in Steppes Crescent when it was deliberately set alight. Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

A Yeovil man has been jailed for three years for drug-related offences. Taunton Crown Court was told that Edward New of South Western Terrace in Yeovil was found in possession of cocaine, heroin and cannabis when police searched his home. The Court issued a Proceeds of Crime order against New with the confiscation amount set at £9,200.

Farming experts are forecasting that the price of milk will rise by around 50 percent. It would mean a four-pint bottle costing between one-pound-sixty and one-pound-seventy. It follows higher feed and fertilizer prices for farmers, blamed on the war in Ukraine.

Great Western Railway, which runs services through Castle Cary, says salt erosion was to blame for the cracks that appeared in their trains. The safety issue was identified last year and led to major delays and the cancellation of hundreds of scheduled services.

Police are appealing for dashcam footage of a crash between two vehicles Wincanton and Sparkford on the A303. The collision involving a green Ford Mondeo and a blue Ford Transit happened at around 1 pm on Sunday 3rd of April. The van was stationary on the A303 at the time. If you can help the police you’re asked to call the non-emergency number 101.
