NHS Somerset says it will take time to resolve the shortage of NHS dental services in the county. They’ve recently taken over responsibility for dental services in Somerset, where the number of practices accepting new NHS patients is at an all-time low.

The go-ahead has been given to convert two former shops premises in Yeovil town centre into homes. Number 11 Wyndham Street will be changed into a three-bedroom dwelling, while 3B Union Street, previously occupied by Hays Travel, will be converted into two one-bed flats.

People in Somerset are being urged to consider becoming magistrates. It's a voluntary role for which legal qualifications and experience is not needed.

Somerset has a new Under High Sheriff. Stuart Hoysted, a senior associate at law firm, Clarke Willmott, will work alongside the current High Sheriff, Robert Drewett, in representing the King in Somerset.

A public speaking competition has been held in Ilminster organised by Ilminster Rotary Club. The event attracted entries from five local schools with children asked to speak on the subject of ‘What I hope King Charles III brings to our country with his reign”.

A recruitment drive has been launched to enrol new members into Somerset Youth Forum. The group, which meets to discuss issues such as mental health, education, equality, climate, and transport and help influence local council policymaking, is looking to sign-up young people, aged eleven to eighteen.
