    Police are searching for the driver of a silver Volkswagen Golf after a man was threatened and forced into the vehicle in Yeovil. Police are also investigating a break-in at a house in Crewkerne in which jewellery was stolen. A new skatepark in Yeovil is being officially opened today...and more.

    Police are trying to trace the driver of a silver Volkswagen Golf after a man was threatened and forced into the vehicle in Yeovil. It happened on Lufton Way near Huish Park last Sunday evening at about 8.25 pm when a firearm was reported being used but not discharged. Police want to hear from motorists in Lufton Way at the time who captured dashcam footage of a silver Volkswagen Golf, registration number YA69 OVC.     Police are also investigating a break-in at a house in Crewkerne in which jewellery was stolen. It happened at a property on Clapton Road on Friday, August 11th but has now been made public by the Police. Watches, cufflinks, and bracelets were among the items taken.     A new skatepark at Milford Park in Yeovil is being officially opened today by the Chairman of Somerset Council, Mike Best and the Leader of Yeovil Town Council, Graham Oakes. 

    The search is on for people who remember the playing fields in South Barrow, near Sparkford opening in 1973. A fete is being held in the village this weekend to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the playing fields with locals asked to bring along photos and memorabilia of the opening day.

    Waste collections will be running a day late next week due to Monday being a Bank Holiday. If your recycling or refuse is collected on Monday, then it will be collected on Tuesday, if your usual day is Tuesday, it will be collected on Wednesday, and so on. Somerset Waste Partnership asked that bins are ready for collection by 7 am on the day of collection, or the night before, to help speed up collections.
