A potential takeover of Yeovil Town Football Club has collapsed amid on-going uncertainty about the club’s future. Matt Uggla of SU Glovers Ltd who it  was expected would buy the Club has announced that talks with owner Scott Priestnall have ended without agreement. News of Mr Uggla’s withdrawal comes just days after Yeovil Town failed to pay the wages of its staff and players; a situation the Club says has now been resolved.

Yeovil’s new Mayor Andy Kendall says one of his top priorities is to get work on the Yeovil Refresh project in the town centre completed as soon as possible. Councillor Kendall, who was formally installed as the new Mayor of Yeovil at the annual meeting of Town Council last night, says upgrading the town centre is likely to continue for a further 12 to 15 months but after that he believes Yeovil will thrive.

Drivers in Somerset are being warned to expect more farm traffic on the roads in the coming days as farmers start the first silage cut of the season. It comes as the insurer NFU Mutual urge farmers not to put themselves at risk as they try to beat the weather.

Households in Somerset are being reminded that recycling and rubbish collections are  running on their usual days this week despite Monday being a Bank Holiday. Collections next week will be a day later because of the Coronation Bank Holiday Monday.
